A Ritual freezes you inside a circle with everything the area had left to throw at you. Kill it all and the altar pays out in Tribute, which you spend at the same altar on a shortlist of rewards — and the shortlist, not the currency, is the real prize.

Every altar rolls one of these behaviours, and it is written on the altar before you start it. The chance column is that type's spawn weight against the total.

Tribute, deferring and rerolling
Slay monsters during a Ritual to earn Tribute. Tribute can be spent on rewards after the Ritual is complete. Some rewards will only be revealed after completing several Rituals. Ritual rewards change between areas unless they are deferred.
Pay 10% of an item's original cost to defer that item. This item will reappear in a later area, discounted by 6% of its original cost. More valuable items can take longer to reappear.
Reroll to receive new Favours. This can only be done once per area. Rerolling costs Tribute.

What a Blood-filled Vessel does
A Ritual Vessel used on a completed altar becomes a Blood-filled Vessel, and opening a map with it upgrades every Ritual in it:
- Rituals have 20% improved Favour Rewards
- Rituals spawn Monsters 20% faster
- Rituals have 20% more maximum monsters alive
- Ritual Vessels can only be used on a completed Ritual Altar
- Ritual Vessels cannot be used on a Ritual Altar more than once
- Ritual Vessels cannot be used in a map opened with a Blood-filled Vessel

Can you reroll Ritual rewards?
Yes — by default once per area, for a Tribute cost, which replaces the whole set of Favours on offer. Deferring is the more surgical lever: it moves one specific item into a later area at a discount instead of rerolling everything. The Ritual Atlas subtree carries nodes that lift the one-reroll limit.
